Metropolitan League Claybury 11th October 2025

Today I ran in the Metropolitan League at Claybury. It was the Under 11 Boys race, and I was really excited because I had been training hard for it. The course was 1.5 kilometres long and went up and down some steep hills. The weather was cool and perfect for running, and the ground was quite hard, which made the race feel fast but a little tougher on my legs.

When the race started, I got off to a really strong start. I felt fast and confident as I took the lead. The first part of the course was smooth, and I tried to keep my pace steady. I could hear lots of cheering from the sides, which made me push even harder. I knew it would be a tough race, but I wanted to stay at the front for as long as I could.

As we came to the big downhill section, another runner started catching up. He ran past me, and I dropped into second place. I didn’t give up though—I focused on keeping close behind him and matching his pace. My legs were starting to feel heavy, but I told myself to stay strong and keep pushing. I knew that every second counted.

The course went quickly because it was short, so I knew I had to keep working hard the whole way. When my watch showed we were nearly at the finish, I started to sprint. I gave it everything I had left, trying to close the gap and take back first place. The crowd was cheering loudly, and that helped me push even more.

I crossed the line in second place with a time of 5 minutes and 24 seconds. I was really happy with my run because I gave my best effort from start to finish. It felt great to be near the front, and it showed me how much my training has helped. Even though I didn’t win this time, I was proud of myself for not giving up.

Next time, I’m going to try and win. I know what the course feels like now and how to pace myself better. I’ll keep training hard, especially on hills, so I can be stronger and faster for the next race. I can’t wait to race again and see if I can take that top spot!
