London Easter 2 Mile Fun Run 2025

Today, I took part in the London Easter Run 10 on Sunday, 20th April 2025. It was a really exciting event with lots of people of all ages. There were two races starting at the same time — a 2-mile fun run and a 10K race. I was running in the 2-mile race because I’m not old enough to do the 10K yet. Still, I felt ready and full of energy. I had trained for this and was looking forward to giving it my best.

As soon as the race kicked off, I sprinted to the front and quickly got into first place for the 2-mile fun run. It felt amazing to be leading so early! But then, a tall boy — also in the 2-mile race — came running up behind me. He was fast and overtook me for a few seconds. I didn’t want to lose my lead, so I picked up my speed and raced ahead of him. I managed to get back in front and kept going, trying to stay focused and calm. It was a good challenge, and I knew I had to work hard to keep my spot.

The course was really flat, which helped me stay at a steady pace. I had walked the route before the race, so I knew what to expect and where all the turns were. There were clear signs along the way too, so I didn’t need to worry about which direction to go. That made it easier for me to concentrate on my running. I tried to stay relaxed, keep my breathing steady, and just run my own race.

Around halfway through, I started to feel a bit tired. My legs were aching and my breathing got heavier, but I didn’t want to slow down. I knew I had trained for this and that I could keep going if I stayed strong in my mind. I kept looking forward, not behind, and reminded myself how great it would feel to finish in first place. I just needed to keep pushing for a little longer.

When I saw the 3K sign, something inside me clicked. I felt a sudden burst of energy and started to sprint as fast as I could. I ran faster than a bullet, giving it everything I had left in the tank. I didn’t look back once — I just focused on the finish line and kept moving my legs. I wanted to make sure nobody could catch me in those final moments.

At last, I crossed the finish line in first place for the 2-mile fun run. I was so proud of myself! My final distance was 3.44 kilometres, and I ran at an average pace of 3:46 per kilometre. I had given it my all, and it felt amazing to win. I can’t wait until I turn 12, because then I’ll finally be able to enter the 10K race and challenge myself even more. This run gave me loads of confidence, and I’m already excited for the next one!
